Korea University Sejong Campus Selected as Chair University

On October 16 to 17, Korea University Sejong Campus hosted the first general assembly and workshop of the Sejong Regional Industry-Academia-Research Consortium. The assembly discussed the establishment of official bylaws, selection of the chair university, and local government collaboration plans with the goal of strengthening inter-university cooperation and regional innovation capacity in Sejong.

The consortium is a regional university alliance formed to advance and invigorate industry-academia cooperation in the Sejong region, comprising five universities: Korea University Sejong Campus, Hongik University Sejong Campus, Korea National University of Arts, Hanbat National University, and Chungbuk National University. Notably, the consortium's scope of cooperation expanded significantly with the confirmed participation of Chungbuk National University at this general assembly. Korea University Sejong Campus was elected as the inaugural chair university of the Sejong Consortium.

The assembly addressed various agenda items including deliberation on the establishment of bylaws for the Sejong Regional Industry-Academia-Research, selection of Korea University Sejong Campus as chair university, review and exchange of RISE project-linked collaboration programs, and signing of a business agreement including Chungbuk National University.

Choi Duho, Director of the Sejong Research and Business Cooperation Foundation at Korea University Sejong Campus, stated, "We hope the Sejong Consortium will develop beyond inter-university cooperation into an innovation platform working alongside Sejong City. We will contribute to regional human resource development and industrial advancement through continuous exchange."

Yoon Seokmoo, Director of the Sejong RISE Center at Sejong Techno Park, expressed, "We hope the Sejong Consortium will become the central axis of the regional innovation ecosystem, creating a virtuous cycle where professionals can settle and grow in the region."
